Youth values needed to build strong nation




Stressing on the need to have a young generation with profound values and ethos to build a strong India, noted social worker and advocate Shirthady William Pinto said need of the hour is to inculcate values to children right from a very young age. Pinto was speaking after receiving the Alevoor Group Award 2009. The award is constituted by Alevoor Group for Education (AGE) and Pinto was chosen for his contribution to create awareness of Land Reforms Act in the villages. He had also contributed towards creating political and social awareness among the elected representatives in the three-tier panychayat system. Professor G K Prabhu, registrar of Manipal University, who presented the award, said working for the underprivileged in the society is something great and Pinto's work towards this section of the society is highly beneficial to the overall development of the society. "Our motto should be to extend the help to the needy and deserving," he said.Ganapathi Kini, president of AGE, former Lions governor Ravindranath Shetty, AEO Ashok Kamath and others spoke on the occasion. `Around Alevoor', a bulletin by the trust, was also released on the occasion.
